Here’s one taken right around the corner from where I live. These conditions happen from time to time in winter, and sometimes the fog hangs around long enough to go exploring and find some good subjects for a photo.
I love atmospheric conditions like this in black and white. I feel if the photo had been taken in colour it would have just looked vague and pale, but in black and white it has real atmosphere.
I also love this tree. I have photographed it in bright daylight under brilliant cloud formations, at night under the stars, and of course this shot, where the intricate outline creates a ghostly shape in the mist.
Unfortunately this tree is no more. Well, some of it is standing, but most of the branches came down during some windy weather earlier this year. Like so many things in nature photography, subjects you think are timeless are actually quite fleeting.
Hope you like the photo. Don’t forget to see more of my work at www.naturesimage.com.au
