Kangaroo Drinking, Warrumbungles NSW
Here is yet another in my collection of photos taken around the Warrumbungles national park in New South Wales. The kangaroos hang around the picnic and camping ground and are quite used to people, so it is easy to get up close and personal.
The night before I took this photo there was a massive thunderstorm…at least it felt massive from inside our little tent. The next morning we woke up to find our shoes (which we had left outside) about 50 metres away, washed downhill by all the rain.
Anyway, the animals all seemed a little shell-shocked that morning, and we got some interesting photos. I have already posted the photo of the kangaroo with a bird on its back. This is a nice intimate portrait of a kangaroo enjoying the fresh rainwater. It can be a pretty hot dry location, so the rain was probably just what they needed.
