Batemans Bay is a small seaside town in New South Wales, and a popular holiday spot for people who want to get away from Sydney and Canberra for a few days. My mental image of Bateman’s Bay is of a sunny getaway kind of place; yet the one morning I spent there the whole place was covered in fog.
It certainly wasn’t the image I expected to capture of Bateman’s Bay, but in the end perhaps it was more interesting than your usual tourist shot.
This photo was taken on colour slide film although the conditions produced an image that was almost Black and White. I also took some shots on Black and White film, and they have been printed and sold in my gallery. For some reason I have never printed this shot before. In fact, this is the first time I have ever shown it anywhere. Now that I take another look at it I really quite like it. Who knows, maybe I will print it after all.
